cndr: "For The Benefit Of All" will hopefully be a key track on "In A World Without Hope",with additional drumming and noises of course."The Crackle Of My Soul",the second of the diversionary Cindytalk albums should be available on the touchedRAW label sometime around february/march along with Matt Kinnisons' "Evenings of Ordinary Sand" and the Ship On Fire ( Bobby August) debut album.

cndr: We're tying up the loose ends regarding the Cindytalk re-issues at the moment.Work has started and "Camouflage Heart" / "In This World" should be re- issued on both cd and vinyl around the middle of February.By May we should see "The Wind Is Strong..." plus "Wappinschaw"/"Secrets And Falling" out too. In and around that, work will hopefully proceed with finishing off FieryPlanetEyes and working toward new Cindytalk (band) album "In A World Without Hope".

In a World without Hope: Regarding Cindytalk's last demo track: The demo "For The Benefit Of All" is the start of the long road toward a new cindytalk "band" album, provisionally titled "In A World Without Hope".This track features the basses of Matt Kinnison and the voice of Gordon Sharp. There are around 12 other embryo tracks awaiting voice AND the drumming of Cindytalk stalwart Paul Middleton. There probably won't be any guitar on this album because our bleeding guitarist,Bobby August is too busy being a solo arsetit and helping to run the Stolen Recordings label.Bless 'im.There will, however (hopefully) be some electronics on it but we'll have to wait and see... The film sample snippet at the beginning of this new track comes from the Mike Leigh film High Hopes and features Ruth Sheen in highgate cemetery, london, looking at the headstone of Karl Marx and reading........

poum: The Italian soldier shook my hand Beside the guard-room table; The strong hand and the subtle hand Whose palms are only able To meet within the sound of guns, But oh! what peace I knew then In gazing on his battered face Purer than any woman’s! For the flyblown words that make me spew Still in his ears were holy, And he was born knowing what I had learned Out of books and slowly. The treacherous guns had told their tale And we both had bought it, But my gold brick was made of gold — Oh! who ever would have thought it? Good luck go with you, Italian soldier! But luck is not for the brave; What would the world give back to you? Always less than you gave. Between the shadow and the ghost, Between the white and the red, Between the bullet and the lie, Where would you hide your head? For where is Manuel Gonzalez, And where is Pedro Aguilar, And where is Ramon Fenellosa? The earthworms know where they are. Your name and your deeds were forgotten Before your bones were dry, And the lie that slew you is buried Under a deeper lie; But the thing that I saw in your face No power can disinherit: No bomb that ever burst Shatters the crystal spirit.

This release combines the power of their latest production on 2 tracks with 2 tracks from the mid-90s resulting in an EP of highly distorted and compressed rocking dancefloor tracks.

tRAW: yes,the last time cindytalk was re-issued it was through world serpent.but as they were mainly a distribution house, the label imprint was of our own choosing.in our case it was "touched".i've since tightened that name up to touchedRAW (as it should have been then) but this time it will hopefully be more than just a vehicle for cindytalk re-issues.if the plan comes to fruition the re-issues will be on another imprint and touchedRAW will only release new ideas.

Tuesday July 25th 2006 05:30:05 AM
iwaninho: Unfortunately I know nothing about distributing etc. :)

Tuesday July 25th 2006 05:23:11 AM
iwaninho: So ideal situation would be like the World Serpent deal? I thought I had seen actual postings on their late website for the Cindytalk backcatalogue rereleased and available on touchedRAW... have these ever been available or was it more of an 'optimistic' posting?

Monday July 24th 2006 10:05:46 AM
touchedRAW: iwan.. it was my original idea to re-issue the back catalogue myself but the more i thought about it the more i realised that on limited resources it would be difficult to do the albums justice.so if i can get them re-issued with proper distribution that might be better.if not i'll fall back onto the original plan of doing them myself.the other thing is,that if i can get them a more solid re-issue it frees me up to release new stuff on the touchedRAW imprint.i have a three album release plan in mind at the moment with cindytalk's "the crackle of my soul",matt kinnison's "evenings of ordinary sand" and an album of solo guitar sketches by paul jones.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 04:12:09 PM
iwaninho: By the by... why not have them rereleased through your own imprint? Or too troublesome with the marketing/distribution part?

Saturday July 22nd 2006 02:45:03 PM
remixt: this remix thing, just an idea at the mo tho.interestingly another record company have just been in touch with an offer to re-issue the back catalogue.so one way or tother, they'll be available before too long.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 01:34:03 PM
still: remixes.. sounds like a good idea to me too. it would be interesting to see what's going to happen with that..

Saturday July 22nd 2006 12:34:18 PM | [ link ]
iwaninho: I'm looking forward to it ;). Any news on the FPE release, will it see the light of day? As a native Dutch speaker I always tend to pronounce Fiery as Feerie... Feary Planet Eyes!

Saturday July 22nd 2006 10:27:21 AM
remixt: and of course compiling them all onto cd as one work.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 10:26:21 AM
remixt: yes,a 2x12 double pack of remixes would be a good idea.one 12,sounds from the main body of cindytalk work, the other 12 from the piano tracks.it could tie in with the two (relative) compilations we have in mind.an idea worth persuing perhaps.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 08:31:45 AM
iwaninho: I'd agree that remixes shouldn't stay close to the originals, why have them remixed them in the first place. It may be interesting to see what someone else can do to the various piano pieces.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 06:25:59 AM
remixt: certainly would be interesting to have a remix ep of some nature.thinking it would be interesting to work remixes of various sounds rather than tracks.give more freedom to the remixer.also, prefer remixes that lay waste to the originals rather than stay too close.

Saturday July 22nd 2006 05:34:54 AM

Pomosht!: In Bulgaria, there is a tradition called July Morning dating from the hippy period in 1980s and maybe as far back as the 1970s. Young (and not so young) people from all over the country travel (often hitchhike) to the Black Sea coast to meet the first sun rays on the 1st of July. Naturally Uriah Heep's July Morning is the main refrain. Although the tradition is linked to the hippy movement in America, it is still popular in Bulgaria. Strangely, it seems that there is no such tradition in other European countries.

hARPy2oBLigE: Paint is the general term for a family of products used to protect and add color to an object or surface by covering it with a pigmented coating. As a verb, painting is the application of paint. One who paints is called a painter. Paint can be applied to almost any kind of object. It is used, among many other uses, in the production of art, in industrial coating, as a driving aid (lane markings), or as a preservative (to prevent corrosion or water damage).

crawling: Tennis on Tuesday...

Tuesday June 20th 2006 04:04:12 PM | [ link ]
PO: Of course it was a tragedy that France would seldom pick Cantona the maverick. You won't pick a World Cup 11 to beat his choice, his picks say all you need to say about him.

Tuesday June 20th 2006 12:51:01 PM | [ link ]
BL: Mind you Scotland has an interesting upcoming tennis player : Andrew Murray. He's still a bit young but already shows some character. He could do well in the near future. Even if you don't enjoy tennis, I recommend you check out Federer from time to time : he's an artist.

Tuesday June 20th 2006 12:16:26 PM | [ link ]
ooh ahh: all lovers of the beautiful game miss cantona!one of the most startling poets of the game.surely only a non-football supporter would say there is too much football halfway through a WC?this is shaping up to be a good one, what with spain and argentina hitting some kind of form.tennis, nah, not for me,don't follow it.

Tuesday June 20th 2006 10:22:17 AM | [ link ]
BL: However if Federer wins Wimbledon for the 4th time, I'll be ecstatic. The man is a freaking genius !

Tuesday June 20th 2006 10:07:11 AM
BL: Too much football kills football. In 1998, it went over the top here. PS : I miss Cantona.

Tuesday June 20th 2006 09:54:51 AM

Last Word: Okay, I know this subject is getting stale but please tolerate one last Kangaroo post. I have converted the video to mpeg and burnt it to CD (as a VideoCD) so it can be played on any standard DVD player (on either a PC or a telly). The picture quality on my 28inch TV is reasonable, the sound quality is acceptable but not great. If anyone out there wants a copy then just email me your address and I'll send it to you.

Moderator: This is a free and open forum. With freedom, comes responsibility. It was foolhardy to welcome Dr Freud into this forum. There is just too much material for him to work with here.

BL: "Mr. Nabokov, would you tell us why it is that you detest Dr. Freud? I think he's crude, I think he's medieval, and I don't want an elderly gentleman from Vienna with an umbrella inflicting his dreams upon me. I don't have the dreams that he discusses in his books. I don't see umbrellas in my dreams. Or balloons."

billious bob: as for the internet being a "shovel for the past"...it depends what you dig up. or don't. but i agree. that kangaroo vid..maybe wasn't buried deep enough.. they could have at least given you a real kangaroo on set, if only as an abstract..and to fool the masses...maybe then you might have avoided the whole "toilet paper" incident.. i'll shut up now before I start getting the evils..

Sigmund Freud: This is not untypical of the control freak stereotype. He will despise anything which lacked his dominating influence. Where flaws in his own work may be accepted as quirks and glitches, flaws in productions of others are not tolerated. Those who enjoy the product of work he has detached himself are scorned, those who criticise it will also be scorned but less publicly. He must cherish once more a piano to exorcise his demons.

the quiet man: that matt kinnison stuff is very nice indeed. great depth and tone. thankyou for putting it up there/out there.

Sunday May 28th 2006 06:20:44 AM
Drowning Man: I find it interesting that if you play the first few seconds of tr6 and tr3 they are virtually the same opening. I probably stand alone in my obsessive analysis of musical fragments but admitting I have a problem bodes well for my treatment and eventual cure.

Saturday May 27th 2006 11:48:15 PM | [ link ]
dj shifty: the wonderful "evenings of ordinary sand" by longtime cindytalk cohort matt kinnison is now playing on touchedRADIO (tR6).the album was released on the wood record label (wd70) in 2005.also a change on channel 3,the freeze live from 1980/81... various live cuts from a selection of different gigs, including a very early and embryonic version of "from the bizarre" recorded at linlithgow academy shortly before keith grant left the band.

ah....: terroreyes... i miss that man.. i will never forget his chivalrous act at the George Robey, Finsbury Park. Brings a smile to my face every time i think of it. Incidentally, the Robey is being gutted and turned into "luxury" apartments...I believe an ex-member of Cindytalk may still have some of the monitors, half-inched on a night sometime a long time ago...memories... if only i could locate Mick Jones, it'd make part of my life complete...

spaewaif: Thank you for the link to the Kangaroo video.I had only seen a few stills from it and was always puzzled by the shades and the flowers...The voice is beautiful and some of the images haunting. However, the most striking point for me is the fact that both in Kangaroo and in Fraser's Song to the Siren, you have two singers that appear very uncomfortable at what is being asked of them. You have two amazingly pure voices being asked to "act" to a very staged ethereal this mortal coil backdrop. That is the beauty of the video, the singer's fragility exposed.

Friday May 26th 2006 09:16:46 PM
A.D.H.D: have converted loads of tjech mixes to MP3...should have quite a few by the time I see you again...not nostalgic mate, alot of it stands up pretty good today...as long as he stayed off the bifter mind...cross fading into nothing,LOVE IT!!!...coupla his mixes on C8 too...

rew: 3 musics that changed my life. Hang Onto Yourself - Bowie, at 11 I didn't know what sex was but I imagined it would be something like this. God Save The Queen - Pistols, walked into an Aberdeen music shop, this was playing, I stopped in my tracks and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Fiery Planet Eyes - cindytalk, I've been scared of people, I've been scared by movies, but this was the first album that ever really frightened me.
