cindytalk archivist, spaewaif, has just launched
a cindytalk blog entitled of ghosts and buildings...*

this space will be used for random snatches of cindytalk
material, past present and future.
feel free to comment and/or send
anything interesting that you might have.

* the name was inspired by a missive John Sko (darkmatter, japan)
wrote on the c8.com forum. cheers John, appreciated.

at last cindytalk.org's long awaited audio-portal,
touchedRADIO, is on air.
it took us a wee while to get all the ideas together
but we are now up and running.
we are launching with 6 channels of sound,
ranging from a classic cindytalk compilation,
the freeze john peel sessions,
through to totally new cindytalk
noise-poetry experiments.
a channel of musics that have been
inspirational to cindytalk,
over the years, will also be airing.
some rotation of programmes is likely,
as we want as much variety as possible but that might
take some time as we gather everything together.
a channel of field recordings entitled
when twinkling meets celestial
is also being prepared.
at some point soon, we will be airing music by
cindytalk-related artists, like Matt Kinnison,
who has just released a new album
called evenings of ordinary sand (wood records.wd70).
we would like to invite friends to send us mixes,
compilations, self-produced albums, etc.
touchedRADIO is not available for download
at this moment but hopefully in the near future;
some of the sets will be available
through touchedRAW.com (complete with artwork).
huge thanks to Andy Hutchinson for his expertise and help
on the setting all this up.

www.touchedRADIO.com channels at launch are:

tR1 : touchedRAWKISSEDsour
a specially selected cindytalk compilation.

tR2 : fieryplaneteyes
the "secret" cindytalk album,
this is in fact the dj mix of the album.
fieryplaneteyes, recorded between 1996 and 2001,
was started shortly after the demise of the U.S. tour
line-up, in an attempt to capture some of the
dynamic of that period. a work which has been
described as "undernourished",
it still contains some quintessential and pure
cindytalk moments.

tR3 : quietly burning
a compilation of tracks culled from the freeze
john peel sessions (plus the last ever freeze song "hollow")
and tracks taken from the first ever cindytalk demo
(tantalisingly called "the sweet taste of cindy").

tR4 : after the fireflies
a cindytalk dj mix, prepared for the 60th anniversary
of the hiroshima atomic bomb.
started in dalston, london, aug 2005;
finished in kobe, japan jan 2006,
it begins with a field recording of the
radiation-like crackling
of a candle ceremony in
hiroshima peace park, may 2005.

tR5 : up here in the clouds
a collection of old and new cindytalk idea sketches.
includes a remix of "transgender warrior".

tR6 : still life
a compilation of pre-punk influences (1972-1976).
"this includes my most important influences
from that period; the music on this compilation
was the pop music of my childhood,
by and large, it still inspires me today."

machines fixed, back to work, news updates to the site.
touchedRADIO is nearing it's launch...

[12/05]
bluesanct records invite cindytalk to participate
in their 10th year anniversary 7" singles jamboree.
10 7" singles of one side music, one side artwork.
cindytalk will present "the eighth sea", described as
"a siren call from a deep static ocean".
it's the first cindytalk track ever recorded in japan
and is inspired by Yoshitomo Nara and Meredith Monk.

resurrected italian record label contempo got in touch
to demand the release of fieryplaneteyes
and to offer help with its completion.
there have been a few offers of this
over the last few years but none that have actually
offered to help us finish it off.
this might be an offer not to be refused.
they are also curious about the possibility
of re-issuing the entire back catalogue!

[09/05]
an exhibition of 3 artists from camberwell college of art
(london) was scheduled for the middle of september
in berlin's renowned tacheles gallery building.
Oana Camilleri presented a series of short films
which all featured tracks from upcoming cindytalk album
the crackle of my soul. cindytalk travelled to berlin
for the week and performed a laptop live set to the films
at the galleryon opening night of the exhibition.
(Dan Grigson you are a diamond! cheers for all your help).
meeting up with longtime freeze/cindytalk collaborator
Richard Hurding in berlin was an added
but unmissible bonus.

back to japan.
working hard on finalising the crackle of my soul.
continuing work on madrigal
and working towards new ideas and live sets.

[08/05]
a dj set with (cindytalk collaborator) Richie Young
at bethnal green working mens club (london)
on the 60th anniversary of the hiroshima atomic bomb.
the preparations for that set
(started in dalston and completed in kobe),
become a 55-minute cindytalk dj set entitled
"after the fireflies".

in the middle of august, an idea from a half-digested
conversation in 2004 turns to gold. Andrew Hutchinson,
an old friend of cinder's, was in contact with an invitation
to travel up to orkney to record some
new vocal-oriented music. as the call came through,
cinder was installing new software
onto the computer with Toby Reynolds (dj scud/wasteland);
the two then discussed the possibility
of a spontaeneous collaboration and within the hour
had booked two easy jet flights to inverness
in the north of scotland for two days hence.
no real preparations were possible, so armed with
computer, microphone, hiking boots, and warm jackets
they departed for the north.
"the idea was to write and record a song a day,
get as much material as possible, then see
if we could turn it into an album at a later date.
two friends who had never really considered
a collaboration before, that was the best we could hope for.
that we should get nearly a full album's worth of material
from 8 days in what was ostensibly an alien environment
(analog folk music studios) was brilliant.
in truth, if the music had failed miserably the
trip would still have been worthwhile...
the friendship & hospitality, the landscape, the archeology,
even the abuse from some locals in pubs made the trip
totally memorable." (big warm thankyous to
Andrew, Liz, Lloyd, Daniel, David,Owen and Phil).

[07/05]
cindytalk have been asked to provide sound
for rabblewise film production madrigal.
a tale of three women, the film is set in london
and brighton. cinder becomes music consultant
during the final shoot, a party scene in which s/he also
appears. featured tracks include:
Paul Jones (cindytalk/candy),
black mass plastics,
Dan Hekate and rubicks.
during filming cinder cements an artistic relationship
with one of the film's three actresses, romanian-born
artist and film-maker Oana Camilleri, and
the two plot some action together
for later in the summer.

[06/05]
cinder spent the summer in europe,
returning from japan at the end of june, hoping to rehearse
with other membersof cindytalk
for live gigs in france.
problems with personal committments
led to both rehearsals and gigs being cancelled
(cheers for all your efforts Fabrice,
hopefully thisyearnextyearsometimesoon...).
